“Pretty Little Brick” Book Presentation
Celebrate Women's History Month with a special book presentation from OlaRonke Akinmowo, founder of The Free Black Women's Library! She along with featured authors Jet Toomer, and Kirya Traber will present selections from their collaborative book, Pretty Little Brick.
"Stemming from her artist residency at New York's Metropolitan Museum of Art (The MET), OlaRonke convened a cohort of twenty Black women and femme writers, entitled Obsidian, which met bimonthly to write, discuss, co-create, and publish work around survival, rage, and liberation, as well as to research and explore art, history, social theories, New York City, and various literary genres. In December 2024, Obsidian published their collective work, Pretty Little Brick."
